Wow, I'm sooo happy xmas is over and i got all my knitting done !!!!!
Now I get to look thru my new books and choose some new projects to start. I got Knit it Design it by Debbie Bliss. I loveit. I have to admit tho I was a bit upset cause it wasnt what I had expected at all. I told my dear hubby that I wanted it cause I had thought it was about how to design. It is , but I guess I was thinking more along the lines of a technichal book and this is more about how to change the visual things. I still love it tho. There are quite a few ideas I had never thought of myself. I'm probably gonna try and find a different book on the technichal aspect tho. I really want to learn about construction. Like were do you measure for pants and how do you shape the pieces, ect I am anzious to start developing my own designs. I already change things in the patterns I knit so I'm 1/2 way there already.
Welcome,
I wanted a spot were knitters can go to explore how to find the answers to their conundrums . I know many of us have searched everywhere for that perfect cast on or stitch and havent been able to find it and don't know how to begin figuring it out for ourselves, so here I'll try and figure out some of these. I'll be posting my ideas and findings as they come along.

Ribbing Conundrum
Ok I am having a conundrum grrr, how to make a cast on for ribbing that will seem to have a rolled edge, as if the ribbing on the front "flows" to the ribbing on the back. I just can't seem to get the edge just right. I have searched youtube and the internet for days and havent been able to find one. I'm doing a 3x2 rib and I'll post later with all my results from all the cast on's I know (I think I know em all ) but hey ya never know right.
Hmmm It seems only the estonian(stretchy) cast on produces the effect I want, however this really only works in 1x1 rib, and also in 2x2 but with a slightly different effect.
So I guess my only option is to make a ribbed hem. Now I can eighter use the kitchner stitch to do this, and its a bit anpoying to do or I can sew it . As this is a hat edge that ends just below the ears, I don't want a bulky hem here. I may have to look into a different option for this edge.
